Electrify Indiana helps Hoosiers save energy and money by choosing efficient electric appliances and vehicles. With partners, we provide Hoosiers with essential information, resources and support, in their communities. Our goal is to equip Hoosiers households across the state to make cost-saving, healthy choices when their gas-fueled appliances break down.
We have a successful track record in quickly disseminating a new technology across our state. Electrify Indiana, formerly Solarize Indiana, was born as a response to a 2017 state law that phased out a fair billing rate for residential solar by July 2022. In the six months before the law began to take effect, teams of volunteers across Indiana were recruited and trained, organized information sessions for 1470 Hoosiers and, on average, doubled the number of solar homes in their regions.
By mid-2022, when net metering ended, solar was becoming a new normal across the state. The local teams made it easy to adopt this new technology. They negotiated good prices, vetted contractors and equipment, and got key information to groups of Hoosiers in their communities
